A “FULL IMMERSION” WEEK WITH QUALIFIED AND INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS:

Fokloristic dances:
teacher Ahmet Demirbag
Ahmet Demirbag: co-founder of the Dancing Department at the Istanbul Technical University for Music and Dance in 1985. He has been dancing since his childhood and became a talented dancer and worldwide famous percussionist at an early age. Since then, he has made various researches about music and dance from all over Turkey and has brought Turkish Gipsy Dance in the Conservatory study program. Besides being a folklore teacher at the University, Ahmet Demirbag has trained hundreds of Turkish Dance teachers. He works as a choreographer with several international professional dance companies (since 1984 he has been working with the Amsterdam Nederlands Dansteater).

“Roman” Turkish Gipsy Dance:
teacher Sumeyra Gurses
Sumeyra Gurses comes from Silivri (Tracia), a town where gipsy refugees came from Bulgary, Greece and Romania at the beginning of the last century. Her childhood has been influenced by gipsy rhythms and dance. She first joined her school dancing groups, then her hometown folklore company, with which she went on a tour all over the world. She successfully completed her studies at the Technical University of Istanbul, specialized in Turkish Gipsy Dance. She is a qualified teacher and holds seminars in Turkey and abroad. She has been collaborating with the “Tappeto Volante” in Padova for three years.



Oriental Dance “Turkish style”:
teacher Gùl Nihal
Gùl Nihal is a very talented professional dancer who has performed in the most famous clubs of Istanbul and abroad. She is an outstanding dancer with a classy, sweet, energetic and seductive style. She teaches in Istanbul and holds seminars abroad, including some at the “Tappeto Volante” in Padova.
Percussions:
teacher Erkan Kanat
Erkan Kanat: born and raised in Luleburgaz (Tracia), he grew up among musicians and studied music and dance at the Technical Univesity of Istanbul. He’s a qualified percussion teacher (derbuka, davul) who plays with several Turkish artists.





Calligraphy:
a workshop with a turkish teacher, in the heart of the old town near Topkapi Palace.

PROGRAM:
Four seminars of 2 hours 30’ a day (except for Thursday: free day), choosing between the following:
  • 10.00-12.30: Oriental dancing with Gunihal (intermediate or advanced level), or Traditional dancing (one level) with Ahmet Demirbag
  • 13.30-16.00: Gipsy dancing with Sumerya (one level) or percussions with Erkan Kanat (one level)

  • 1 seminar:  € 330
  • 2 seminars: € 590
  • ****Hotel double room accommodation for 7 nights (breakfast included) + 1 seminar: € 680
